I stumbled across this little business on Yelp and decided to try because their good reviews.. Those reviews did not lie one bit! I came here on a Saturday early afternoon and there wasn't anyone else, but my sister and I there.
We always have a hard time choosing what to order because we love Japanese food! After awhile we decided to order: chicken katsu, chirashi bowl, cherry roll, and 2 spicy tuna hand rolls. They were all so delicious and great portions. The fish on the chirashi bowl was so fresh and fatty!
The lady serving us was super nice and the sushi chef was really nice too. They both kept joking with us because I was taking pictures for my yelp review. -

We were really craving sushi this weekend and were glad that Kana was open during the time we headed out for lunch (2:30PM) since most other sushi restaurants in the area closed at 3PM and reopened at 5PM. Rather than rush to eat our rolls in 30 mins at other places we decided to head over here and Kana was a solid option since there's a parking lot and the place wasn't too crowded so we got seated immediately.
| WHAT WE GOT |
+ Rainbow Roll - I always opt to get rainbow rolls because they give you a nice assortment between albacore, tuna, salmon, and shrimp. I liked the tuna and shrimp portions of this roll the most, but the salmon was close behind.
+ Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll - I liked the crunch texture added by the tempura pieces on top. The spicy tuna was fairly simple but wasn't too spicy.
+ Fried Salmon Roll (can't remember the exact name) - My fave! This roll was definitely the most savory of the three but it was a nice texture and flavor change between bites.
Rolls here decently priced $7-$15. I thought they were on the smaller side for the price range compared to other places I've been to but the three rolls were just the right amount to share between the two of us.
All in all, Kana Sushi satisfied our sushi craving, but it's not a restaurant that I would solely go to Walnut Creek for. -

Unagi - good... California roll good...salmon Fresh...beef bowl too much teriyaki sauce... Philly roll too much cream cheese. Service Excellent!!

Definitely a good bang for your buck. We were greeted at the door and promptly seated. We ordered a miso soup and egg soup. Also ordered a baked scallop roll, dragon roll and a Philadelphia roll. Baked scallop roll was my favorite, but then again I love Japanese Mayo. Overall the quality of the sushi was good for the price point. Service was excellent.
My only complaint was the paper towels in the restroom were a mess and the container was broken. -

I have eaten and Kana Sushi a handful of times and can say that the service and food are both consistently mediocre. If you're fine with large portions of mediocre food and you don't mind that the servers are generally not too friendly, then try it out.
The last time we visited we waited for the waitress to take our order for about 15 minutes. When she came to the table there was no apology, and we barely saw her after we got our food (meaning no refills on our drinks). A group seated after us weren't as patient and left before the waitress came to take their orders.
